Sportsbooks Say Zeke Unlikely To Hit 1000 Yards

• Ezekiel Elliott is in danger of falling below 1000 rushing yards for the second season in a row.

DALLAS - Ezekiel Elliott has been a fairly poor running back for the majority of the 2021-22 season. The famous Dallas Cowboys star has been held under 60 yards on the ground every game since Week 6.

Elliott has 915 rushing yards on the season, and it’s an open question as to whether or not he’ll be able to make the 1000 yard mark. The NFL sportsbooks do not seem optimistic, especially given his recent history, and the fact that his backup, Tony Pollard, is arguably playing better than him.

Elliott’s struggles have been well-documented. While the fact that he has not gone over 60 yards on the ground since Week 6 is bad enough, his production seems to be declining even more as the season grinds to a close.

In Elliott’s last three games he has racked up 52, 37 and 16 rushing yards against the New York Giants, Washington Football Team and Arizona Cardinals respectively. None of those teams are in the top five against the rush, and the Washington Football Team, the best of them on the ground, still gives up an average of 105 rush yards per game.

This week, Elliott faces off against the Philadelphia Eagles, a team ranked seventh in the league against the rush - one spot ahead of Washington.

He’s had two consecutive games with less than 10 rushing attempts, and the Cowboys have already locked up their division - and a playoff spot. For Zeke, there’s not just the worry of his limited production, but the worry that his opportunities will be limited as well, especially if his team manages to beat the Eagles badly.

If Elliott falls below 1000 yards, this will be the second year in a row that he will have done so, and many will begin to question his “elite RB” bona fides. NFL betting fans might want to take the -300 odds on Elliott not making it to 1000 yards this year based on his previous performance.
