- The New England Patriots are betting underdogs to the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs.
- Bill Belichick has a 6-3 record as a playoff underdog as New England’s coach.
- The Patriots have +165 odds on the moneyline.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots have been at the top of the NFL for quite some time. Despite all of their playoff appearances under Bill Belichick, they’ve only been an underdog on nine occasions.
Patriots Underdogs In First Round Vs. Bills
The Patriots have already played the Buffalo Bills twice this season, splitting the regular-season series at one game each. Now, the two will play in the first round of the postseason and NFL betting sites are favoring the Bills to be the team to move on.
Bills vs Patriots Moneyline Odds
- New England Patriots +165
- Buffalo Bills -195
The first meeting between the two, the one in which the Patriots won, was the infamous game in which Mac Jones threw the ball just three times due to the severe wind. While possibly an outlier, similar conditions are expected in the playoff game. Aside from that, history may also be on New England’s side.
Belichick As An Underdog In The Playoffs
New England isn’t used to being the underdog very often, at least since Belichick took over as the head coach. This game will mark the 10th occasion in which the Pats are underdogs under Belichick in the postseason. In the past, the team has fared very well.
The Patriots are 6-3 SU and ATS under Belichick as a playoff underdog and have won each of their last two games as well. Of course, most of this can be partially attributed to Tom Brady and it will be the first time the Patriots are in the playoffs since he left the team, but Jones seems to be able to do his job and fill his role nicely.
Those betting on the NFL have probably learned by now it’s never smart to bet against Belichick and the Patriots so it’s probably worth getting some action on the +165 moneyline odds.
