- There is a 3.5 QB total of quarterbacks drafted in the first round.
- The under is heavily favored at -225 odds.
LAS VEGAS – The 2022 NFL Draft is just one week away and there are still plenty of questions surrounding the quarterback position and the amount of talent that it has to offer.
With that, NFL betting sites have odds on the total number of QBs taken in the first round and it is set fairly low with the under even heavily favored.
Total QBs Selected In The First Round Odds
- Under 3.5 -225
- Over 3.5 +175
A Good Chance To Fade
Yes, the NFL Draft odds have the total set low with odds in favor of the under, however, it is set low enough where taking the over is not as big of a risk as some might think.
There are four teams that should come to mind that can select a quarterback in the first round and cash the over.
The first team is the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have struggled at the position in recent years and last year with Sam Darnold under center was no different.
They have also been linked to Kenny Pickett in the weeks leading up to the draft while mock drafts also have Pickett landing there.
The New Orleans Saints are another team that could be in need of a QB as Taysom Hill is transitioning to tight end full time and it also seems that they are not fully sold on Jameis Winston given his past.
Another team to watch is the Pittsburgh Steelers as Big Ben Roethlisberger has just entered retirement and they are certainly in the market for their next franchise QB.
They did sign Mitchell Trubisky in the offseason and reports have come out of him being their QB1 next season. Given that he has played inconsistently during his career and also served as a backup last season, his window to win them over could be small meaning the Steelers take a QB as a precautionary measure.
The Seattle Seahawks could be considered a lock to take a quarterback after trading away a disgruntled Russell Wilson in the offseason.
Their current QB1 on the depth chart is an inconsistent and young Drew Lock, who has thrown for 20 interceptions in three seasons.
Aside from Kenny Pickett, other names at the position that do have talent and could be drafted in the first round include Malik Willis, Desmond Ridder, Matt Corral, and Sam Howell.
