LOS ANGELES – As the NFL season gets closer, Los Angeles Rams star defensive tackle, Aaron Donald, still does not have any guaranteed money left on his contract. This has sparked his retirement rumors to resurface.
Aaron Donald To Retire Before The New Season
- Yes +375
- No -650
Donald has been rumored to retire since the Rams Super Bowl parade as he has made it known that he would like to retire after playing eight seasons in the league. However, being that the Rams are coming off a Super Bowl win and have contending Super Bowl 57 odds, he is on the fence about hanging up his cleats or not.
“Me talking about retirement, that was happening way before we won a Super Bowl. I’ve been saying that since I got into the league that I was going to play eight years and be done. That’s just what I’ve been saying,” said Donald. “But winning a Super Bowl, you get kind of a little addicted to it. I want to feel that again. I ain’t going to lie, that experience is like none other. If I was to play, it’s just to win another Super Bowl, but at the end of the day, it’s still a business and it got to make sense to me and my family.”
By the looks of things, it does not seem that Donald has slowed down at all and would still be a pivotal part to this LA Rams defense . He is coming off of an incredible season where he posted 84 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, and 12.5 sacks which was top 10 in the league. He also helped lead the Rams run defense to allow the sixth least yards per game at 103.2.
Are The Odds A Cause For Concern?
Although Donald is heavily favored to stay active for the Rams, these odds have taken a major tumble from where they were back in February right after the Super Bowl. Back then, Donald had -1200 odds to stay playing while having +600 odds to retire.
It seems that Donald will not be upset if he does not return to the field, however, he did express confidence that the two sides will come together on a deal for next season.
