Early NFL Lines Show Chiefs As Betting Favorite Over Bills

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Although the NFL season has not yet started, online betting sites have already listed odds for some games throughout the season. One game, in particular, that has the attention of many is the Week 6 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills from Arrowhead Stadium where the Chiefs are slight 1.5-point favorites.

First things first, this matchup will feature one of the best modern-day rivalries between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. In the four games that the two have met, Mahomes has gotten the upper hand thus far going 3-1 against Allen and the Bills.

Something else to take note of is that oddsmakers have been in love with Kansas City in those four meetings as they’ve been favored to win each time. However, the mood could be changing as the 1.5-point spread is the lowest set spread between the two since Mahomes and Allen started playing.

Game Analysis

As for what to expect, while oddsmakers haven’t sent the spread higher than 5.5 points in the last four games, each of the four games has been decided by at least a touchdown. It will also be a high-scoring game as the last three meetings have all seen a minimum of 58 points scored.

The Bills could have the slight advantage in this one being that the Chiefs will have almost an entirely new wide receiver lineup that does not feature Tyreek Hill. They’ll have Juju Smith Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling who have no experience in this type of game at all.

Buffalo, on the other hand, has added a reliable WR3 to the mix in Jamison Crowder and also bulked up their defense with the additions of Von Miller and Shaq Lawson.

With the Chiefs losing their most valuable weapon, they could come up short in this one. As for why betting on these odds early on could turn out beneficial, depending on how each team performs in the first five weeks leading up to this game, the spread could lengthen meaning 1.5 points is essentially a moneyline at this point.
