SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The number one seed San Francisco 49ers will host the number six seed Minnesota Vikings in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday.
The betting lines for this matchup have the 49ers as the clear favorite (-300) while the traveling Vikings (+250) will be going into the game as the underdogs.
Last weekend Minnesota took down the New Orleans Saints who were slated to win the Wild Card with a final score of 26-20.
The Match-Up
The home team’s lines have moved from the 49ers being the 7.5-point favorites to now being the 7-point favorites after the Vikings’ victory over the Saints. The total for Minnesota is set at 44 with San Francisco going over the combined total points in the last five out of six games they’ve played at Levi’s Stadium.
San Francisco’s quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has had a great season passing for 3,978 yards and 27 touchdowns in 16 games. He is also backed by a great defensive line which is why the team has had a record of 13-3 for the season and finished first in the NFC West division.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is leading his team onto the field Saturday. Cousins played in 15 games for the 2019 season, passing for 3,603 yards with 26 touchdowns. He is only one touchdown behind Garoppolo and played in one less game than the opposing quarterback. The Vikings went 10-6 for the season and were second in the NFC North Division.
The 49ers see running back Dalvin Cook from Minnesota as a real threat and are focused on taking him out of the equation during the game. Cook has had 13 touchdowns in the 14 games he’s played this past season. With Cousins and Cook both on the field, the Vikings have a real shot at pulling off another upset on Saturday.
Lines for the game may shift a bit more in favor of the Vikings before the start of the game as that has been the trend among sportsbooks.
The game will begin at 4:35 p.m. EST. on Saturday and it will be broadcast on the NBC network. Sixth seed or not, the Vikings are a team that could be a real threat to the 49ers chances of a Super Bowl shot.
