- There are +110 odds for the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers to go over 54.5 points.
- The total points for the first quarter of Sunday Night Football is set at 10 points.
- Keenan Allen has +140 odds to score a touchdown.
LOS ANGELES – In what is shaping out to be a shootout according to NFL oddsmakers, the Miami Dolphins are on the road in Week 14 to take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football where the point total is set at 52.5 points.
For what it’s worth, the 52.5-point total is the highest set point total of any game listed on the NFL betting sites for Week 14. With that said, there are plenty of prop odds on the game that feed off of that including alternate lines, quarter totals, and anytime TD odds that are coming in at plus money.
Dolphins Vs. Chargers Alternate Total
Alternate Point Total
- Over 54.5 +110
- Under 54.5 -145
The first place to look to make a profit on a high-scoring game is in the alternate total market on Bovada. Taking the extra 2 points on the total isn’t much considering how both teams have been playing on both sides of the ball this season.
Starting with the defenses, both are bottom-10 in points allowed per game this season with the Dolphins letting up 24.1 ppg and the Chargers at 25.8 ppg.
On the offensive side, both are in the top 15 in scoring with Miami averaging 24.9 ppg and the Chargers averaging 22.7 ppg
Looking at each of their most recent games, Miami has been able to go over 54.5 points in three of their last five games and has put up 30+ points in four of their last five. As for the Chargers, they shouldn’t have any issues holding up their end of the scoring as they’ve managed 20+ points in four of their last five as well.
Also, in games where the Dolphins odds are favored on the road between 2-4 points, the point total has gone 3-0 against a 54.5 total in their last three scenarios. LA, on the other hand, was streaking with under 54.5 points when a home underdog of 2-4 points since 2007, however, they broke that streak in 2021.
First Quarter Point Total
1Q Point Total
- Over 10 -110
- Under 10 -110
Taking the over on the first quarter total could also be a money maker as both teams tend to get off to hot starts, especially in their last three games. In Miami’s last three games, the Dolphins have seen the first-quarter total go over 10 points all three times. As for the Chargers, while they have only gone over once in their last three games, they have managed to score a touchdown in two of them.
Backing the over, even more, is that Miami is one of the highest scoring teams in the league this season in first quarter points 5.3 on average while scoring an average of 8 points in the first quarter in their last three games. The Chargers currently average just 3.3 points per first quarter but have also picked things up in their last three games at 5.7 points on average.
On defense, there isn’t much to say other than the Chargers are tied for the worst first-quarter defense in the league letting up 5.8 points on average while Miami isn’t far behind letting up 5 points per first quarter.
Banking On Keenan Allen To Stay Hot
Anytime TD Odds – Keenan Allen
- Yes +140
Keenan Allen’s Chargers TD odds hould come in as a surprise being that they are listed in plus money territory. Allen has not only scored a touchdown in each of his last two games, but he is one of the league's premier redzone threats as well.
Just to show how lethal Allen has been in the redzone, last season he finished top-3 in the league in redzone completions (20), fourth in redzone targets (27), and has a 74.07 completion rate for five total TDs.
While Allen has been dealing with injuries all season, it seems that he is finally starting to catch fire in his last two games. That said, this is one hot streak that no one is going to want to miss.
