INDIANAPOLIS – While his odds were already trending in the right direction, Anthony Richardson’s NFL Combine performance has made his NFL Draft odds become even shorter.
The University of Florida Alumni is now even competing to be the favorite for the first picked at Super Bowl sportsbooks, with the second shortest odds following his record-breaking showing.
First Overall NFL Draft Pick Odds
- Bryce Young -200
- Anthony Richardson +275
- CJ Stroud +450
- Will Levis +600
- Will Anderson +750
- Jalen Carter +2000
Back in December, Richardson had +3300 odds to be chosen first but this shortened to +600 before the combine, due to videos that circulated around that showed off his athleticism and physicality on the field.
With the Chicago Bears announcing their plan to trade the first round draft pick, a team looking for this type of mobile QB like potentially the Panthers, could snag the overall pick and bet on Richardson for their future.
Anthony Richardson Stats/Combine Results
Height: | Weight: | Vertical Leap: | Broad Jump: | 40 Yard Dash Time: |
---|---|---|---|---|
6-4 | 244 Pounds | 40.5” | 0’9” | 4.4 Seconds |
Setting combine records for both the broad jump and the vertical jump, Richardson proved that he is more valuable that a late first round pick.
While Bryce Young is still favored to be the first overall pick, jumping CJ Stroud on the odds boards is a big step towards being the surprise number one pick.
Richardson has slightly shorter odds to be the first quarterback taken overall at +225, which has less value than his overall odds to be the number one pick. If Richardson is the first player picked, he is a lock to be the first QB, with Will Anderson at +750 having the shortest non-QB odds to be picked first in the 2023 draft.
Six of the last eight number one overall picks gave been players of the QB position.
