Now tied with the New Orleans Saints’ odds to win the NFC South, the Buccaneers are in the bottom four when it comes to their NFC Championship odds (+2500) despite the 2-0 record.
So is Tampa being overlooked?
They went 6-2 to end the the season last year, and adding another two this season makes them 8-2 over their last 10 games. Avenging one of those losses, they beat the Detroit Lions (as touchdown underdogs) this week – the team who knocked them out of the playoffs in the divisional round last year.
With wins over the Packers and Eagles during this span, the only other loss for Tampa was against the Saints. While they face off in Week 6, the Buccaneers first must take on the 0-2 Denver Broncos in Week 3 at home as touchdown favorites.
In the last six games when the Buccaneers were home favorites of a touchdown of more, no opponent scored more than 17.

Despite facing a tough Weeks 9 and 10 facing the two Super Bowl favorites (Chiefs and 49ers), they end the season with some easy opponents (NYG, CAR, LV, CAR, NO) after their late bye week.

Through the first two games of the season, the Buccs post a top six offense and defense. While likely unsustainable, their third-down conversion percentage (9/25, 36%) is also top five, giving some hope to future consistency.
Add in the fact Baker Mayfield has two receivers with 100+ yards and 2 TDs already with a defense that bends but doesn’t break, and Todd Bowles has a light at the end of the tunnel.Â

If the Buccaneers can keep big plays out of the endzone, this team should stay alongside the odds (-180 to make the playoffs) and have a chance. While the odds for the Buccaneers to win the Super Bowl will never be one of the favorites, it may be worth a small risk considering their hot streak.
