XFL Odds Breakdown: Coaches, QBs, Wins/Losses

• There are three teams are projected to be highly favored do differing reasons.
• Oddsmakers are projecting that three teams that could go both ways.
• The bottom two teams might have some work to do.

SEATTLE - With the XFL football season coming up this weekend, odds for both regular season and championship odds have been released for all eight teams. There are some notable names to keep an eye on for each team.

High Favorites

Of the eight teams starting the reboot of the XFL, three of them look pretty promising ahead of the Feb. 8 kickoff. The same sites that had Super Bowl 54 odds have betting lines set for this football league as well.

Starting with the Dallas Renegades, the team is lead by a proven head coach in Bob Stoops who held a 190-48 coaching record while working for the Oklahoma Sooners. They also brought in Landry Jones to be their starting quarterback.

Jones played under stoops at Oklahoma where he committed to as a 4-star recruit. During his time with the Sooners Jones threw for 77 touchdowns and 9,730 yards before being drafted in the 4th round of the NFL Draft. Their win probability is +/-6 while their championship odds are +350.

Next, oddsmakers are looking at the Houston Roughnecks who are coached by June Jones. Houston’s quarterback situation is interesting as they go with PJ Walker who played at Temple and went undrafted in the NFL.

In college, Walker threw for 10,668 yards and 74 touchdowns. His top receiver seems to be Sammi Coates who played in the NFL for 4 years with his best year coming in Pittsburgh going for 435 yards and 2 TDs. The roughnecks win odds are at +/-6 as well with their championship odds at +600.

The Tampa Bay Vipers lead the way of the three favored teams with a +/-7 wins and a +400 to win the title. The team is coached by Marc Trestman, a 2-year head coach in the NFL and 7-year coach in the Canadian Football League.

This team will be fun to watch as they have former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray who went for 13,166 yards and 121 touchdowns in college as well as Quinton Flowers who is listed as a Quarterback/Running Back after rushing for over 3,600 yards in college.

Average Teams

Starting with the Washington D.C. Defenders, the team is led by an offensive-minded coach in Pep Hamilton. This team could be explosive as they’re led on the field by quarterback Cardale Jones. Jones led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a National Championship in 2015. The Defenders' regular-season win odds are +/-5.5 with championship odds of +400.

The Los Angeles Wildcats, however, have regular-season win odds of +/- 4 with championship odds of +650. The Wildcats are coached by former Green Bay Packers assistant Winston Moss. Starting quarterback Josh Johnson is expected to be one of the leagues most coveted quarterbacks. Johnson has started a total of 8 games in his 7 year NFL career.

Coached by the former San Diego Chargers coach, Kevin Gilbride, the New York Guardians regular-season win odds are +/-4 with title odds at +700. Starting quarterback Matt McGloin, served a 5-year NFL career mostly with the Oakland Raiders having only started 7 games. In those 7 games, he threw for 1,868 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Below Average Teams

Starting off with the St. Louis BattleHawks who are coached by former NFL tight end Jonathan Hayes. With a young starting quarterback in Jordan Ta’amu, it could be difficult for this team to catch a spark. Ta’amu is coming out of Ole Miss having only played two seasons. During those 2 seasons, he went for 5,600 passing yards and 30 touchdowns. Their regular-season win odds are +/-3.5 with championship odds at +650.

Last on the mind of sports bettors are the Seattle Dragons, going into the season with regular-season win odds of +/-3.5 well and the lowest championship odds amongst the 8 teams at +1000. They are coached by former Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Jim Zorn. While he wasn't a Super Bowl winning quarterback, he was still a household name during his NFL tenure.

But, the Dragons' starting quarterback is Brandon Silvers who comes from Troy University, a relatively small football program. In his 4-year college career, Silvers went for 71 touchdowns and 10,677 yards.
