- Former NFL WR Antonio Brown has announced via his Twitter account that he is officially retiring from the NFL.
- His reasoning is not feeling safe returning during the current pandemic.
- Brown has +2200 odds to win NFL 2020 Comeback Player of the Year.
NEW YORK - Antonio ‘AB’ Brown officially announced his retirement via Twitter and it has already affected his odds at online sportsbooks.
Brown has been a free agent since being dropped by the New England Patriots in 2019. Now, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Brown states he feels unsafe returning to the field.
AB was seeing growing interest from the Seattle Seahawks and the Baltimore Ravens prior to his retirement announcement.
AB Retires
NFL bettors taking action on AB to win Comeback Player of the Year may be out of luck as the former Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots wide receiver has officially announced his retirement.
Is it time to walk away i done ✅ everything in the game ?!!
— AB (@AB84) July 20, 2020
at this point the risk is greater than the reward thank you everyone who been part of this journey i sincerely thank you for everything! life goes on 84!

Brown played eight seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Oakland Raiders. He would ultimately be released from the raiders without ever playing to join the Patriots for one game before being released yet again.
AB has not played in the NFL since then but many fans expected that to change with the 2020 NFL season.
At online sportsbooks, there are odds surrounding Brown winning the 2020 NFL Comeback Player Of The Year award.
Brown currently has the 11th shortest odds.
NFL 2020 Comeback Player Of The Year
- Ben Roethlisberger +325
- Cam Newton +325
- Rob Gronkowski +450
- JJ Watt +550
- AJ Green +600
- Nick Foles +600
- Matthew Stafford +700
- Baker Mayfield +800
- Myles Garrett +1200
- Aldon Smith +1500
- Antonio Brown +2200
Interestingly enough, this is not the first time AB has spoken of retiring.
During his brief 2019 stint with the Raiders, Brown threatened to retire due to a disagreement with the new helmet requirements by the NFL.
Brown ended up playing just one NFL game during the 2019 season.
Outside of AB’s tweets, there has been no other formal confirmation of his retirement. Many fans were hoping for their teams to sign Antonio Brown and shorten their Super Bowl odds.
If AB is truly done playing football in the NFL, then he caps off a very successful career as being one of the top receivers in the league. If he isn’t, then those who are crazy enough to bet on Antonio Brown for Comeback Player of the Year could find themselves with a massive payout.
