NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans Saints Running Back Alvin Kamara was absent from practice for at least four days starting on Friday due to contract related disagreements with the team according to sources.

As Kamara heads into the last year of his rookie deal, the two sides are in talks about the next steps and what a long-term contract extension would look like.

It was reported that even with fellow RB Christian McCaffrey receiving a big contract earlier this year, Kamara is not requesting a contract similar and both him and the Saints are not too far apart in their negotiations.

With the news of the running back missing team activities, teams have inquired about him and oddsmakers are beginning to believe fans may see Kamara in a different uniform at the start of the NFL season.

There has been confirmation from National Football League reporters that trading Kamara is not off the table for the New Orleans Saints.

In his three year career, he has become fifth in the league in scrimmage yards with 4,476 yards along with receiving 37 touchdowns and averaging 6.1 yards per touch over that span.

If the Saints want to keep him, they will not have to pay the $16 million a year that McCaffrey is getting but they will have to make him one of the highest-paid running backs in the league.

Sources have reported that Kamara will return to practice with the Saints on Wednesday and that the riffs in contract negotiations have calmed down. With Week 1 around the corner, this is an important relationship that needs to be intact.
