NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Derrick Henry is undoubtedly the top running back in the entire league right now. He leads the league in carries (162), yards (783), and touchdowns (10) through the Tennessee Titans' first six games.
In Week 7, Henry and the Titans have a favorable matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs currently have one of the worst run defenses in the league at 133.2 yards allowed per game. With that, NFL sportsbooks have given Henry his highest rushing total of the season at 128.5 yards.
Rushing Yard Total – Derrick Henry
- OVER 128.5 -115
- UNDER 128.5 -115
Henry’s Strong Side
The one thing to note that backs up Henry hitting the OVER mark is that he is at his best when he runs to the left. His two longest runs of the season came to the left side of the field. He had a 60-yard run against the Seattle Seahawks and a 76-yard attempt against the Buffalo Bills.
Aside from his two longest runs, in three of the last four weeks, Henry has seen six attempts go for 5+ yards to the left in each of those games. Even in the one week of the last four that he took advantage of the right, his longest run of the day came from the left at 22 yards.
Looking at Henry’s season as a whole, he has rushed for 110+ yards in five straight games with four of those games going over 128.5 rushing yards. Most recently, he put up 143 yards against the Bills defense that went into the week as the number one run defense in the league.
Finding Holes In The Chiefs' Defense
Week in and week out, the Chiefs have been unable to stop the running game. They allow the sixth-most rushing yards per game. One of the Chiefs' biggest weaknesses in their run defense has been their ability to stop the run to the left.
In games where the Chiefs went up against top-tier running backs such as Nick Chubb, Austin Ekeler, and Antonio Gibson, they struggled to stop runs to the left.
In Week 1, Chubb rushed to the left in 11 of 15 carries in which eight of the eleven went for 5+ yards. Austin Ekeler had seven of eleven carries to the left with four of them going for 5+ yards in Week 3. In Week 6, Antonio Gibson had ten carries with seven going to the left.
Those looking to bet on Derrick Henry to hit the OVER can be sure that the Tennessee Titans will be attacking the left side of the defensive line throughout the game.
