- The San Francisco 49ers are set to wear lucky white jerseys with gold pants in Super Bowl 54.
- The Niners are 2-0 in Super Bowl’s when wearing these white and gold uniforms.
- The Chiefs will be wearing dark jerseys.
MIAMI - With Super Bowl 54 incoming, teams are looking for every single advantage they can find to help their odds of winning. This includes even the realm of superstition.
The San Francisco 49ers are set to be wearing a combination of white jerseys and gold pants in this year’s Super Bowl. This combination of white and gold has historically been in the Niners favor as they have a 2-0 record in the Super Bowl when wearing them.
San Francisco is hoping for a bit of luck to shine on their side as they prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs explosive offense come Super Bowl Sunday.
Lucky White Jerseys
The white and gold uniforms the 49ers will be wearing just might have lady luck on their side. Historically, white jerseys have been proven to be lucky as 13 of the last 15 Super Bowl champions have donned them.
In fact, if not for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers wearing green jerseys in Super Bowl XLV, it would have been 12 straight years that the team donning the white jerseys took home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
In an interesting twist, going into Super Bowl LI, the Atlanta Falcons could have worn white jerseys but instead opting out, letting the patriots wear the lucky uniforms. In hindsight that may have been a bad decision seeing how that game became the biggest Super Bowl comeback in NFL history, or biggest collapse depending on how you view it.
There must be some form of magic mojo connected to the white jerseys with all the success that has leaned towards the wearers of that uniform.
The 49ers Want To Wear All White
Even with their success in white and gold uniforms, the 49ers look to be taking no chances as the players are currently trying to wear all white jerseys for the Super Bowl.
Richard Sherman and other team leaders have been vocal about wanting to wear their all-white 94 throwback uniforms for Super Bowl LIV. The Niners plan to make a push to the league to allow them to wear the all-white throwbacks.
San Francisco wore those jerseys in their week 7 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Although the league only permits NFL teams to wear their throwbacks once per season, they were allowed an exception and were able to wear the all-white throwbacks against the Seattle Seahawks in week 17 which resulted in another victory.
It is unlikely the NFL will grant them another exception but the 49ers still plan to make a push.
Bet On Lucky White
Whether they are allowed to wear their all-white throwbacks or play the game in their white and gold uniforms, the odds based on history are in favor of the 49ers.
The Kansas City Chiefs will be sporting red jerseys with white pants for Super Bowl LIV and are the current favorites with a -120 as opposed to the 49ers even odds. Super Bowl LIV kicks off Sunday, February 2, at 6 p.m. EST so now is the perfect time to prepare for Super Bowl betting.
Will the white jerseys continue their lucky streak by giving good mojo to the 49ers? Or will the Chiefs be able to battle through the bad mojo and claim the Vince Lombardi Trophy? Bettors will have to wait and see.
