- Alex Smith has -110 odds of throwing for over 1.5 passing touchdowns in Week 10.
- In relief of the injured Kyle Allen, Smith threw for 325 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.
- Alex Smith is favored to win the 2020 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award with -250 odds.
WASHINGTON – The Washington Football Team will go into Week 10 starting their third quarterback under center this season. This happens after Kyle Allen went down against the New York Giants with a broken ankle in the first quarter.
Allen was given starting duties in Week 5 after Dwayne Haskins was benched.
Smith will be making his first start since 2018 after he sat out all of 2019 recovering from a devastating leg injury. Smith’s first start of the season will be against the Detroit Lions and he’ll be tasked with keeping Washington afloat in the NFC East division race.
Alex Smith spoke to the media about how he feels going into his first start in over two years.

After seeing Smith play there should be little doubt that he will perform well under center. Smith compiled 325 passing yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in his first extended action under center.
Alex Smith Total Passing Touchdowns Week 10
- Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns -130
- Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns -110
Winner: Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-110). The Detroit Lions defense is allowing opponents to score an average of 30 points per game and bettors should take the over as Smith will have plenty of opportunities to record at least two touchdown passes.
Take -110 odds on Smith picking apart the Lions defense in a game where Washington’s defense will be crucial to the team getting a win on Sunday.
Alex Smith Total Passing Yards Week 10
- Under 247.5 Passing Yards -130
- Over 247.5 Passing Yards -110
Winner: Over 247.5 (-110). Alex Smith in relief of Kyle Allen threw for 325 yards against the New York Giants and with the Lions defense being slightly worse than New York bettors should take the over for the prop with confidence.
Although the Lions run defense is where offenses should be attacking, a quarterback like Smith can easily check down to the running backs and still rack up big yards. The Lions pass defense has constantly been getting beat all season as they give up an average of 243.9 passing yards per game.
Take the over here as Smith will likely have another big yardage game just like last week.
Odds to Win 2020 Comeback Player of the Year
- Alex Smith -250
- Ben Roethlisberger +250
- Cam Newton +1200
- Myles Garrett +1200
- Aldon Smith +1600
Winner: Alex Smith (-250). The fact that Alex Smith has even stepped back on an NFL field this season is reason enough to hand him the Comeback Player of the Year award.
His recovery from a broken fibula and the infections that followed the surgery is truly remarkable. Although Ben Roethlisberger also has a compelling case for this award, he just hasn’t had to undergo the same adversity as Smith.
No matter how Smith performs the remainder of the season, take the -250 odds now because as we get closer to the end of the season Smith’s odds will get shorter.
After playing Detroit on Sunday the Washington Football Team will have a Week 11 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.
