WASHINGTON – The Washington Commanders looks to be a middle of the road team, with +7000 odds to win the Super Bowl.
Washington Commanders Preseason Playoff Odds
- Washington Commanders Odds to Win the Super Bowl: +7000
- Washington Commanders Odds to Win Conference: +3300
- Washington Commanders Odds to Be First Seed: +2000
- Washington Commanders Odds to Win Division: +500
The Commanders are in contention to win the Super Bowl in only the vaguest of senses, with 21 teams ahead of them on the odds boards.
The most likely thing they can achieve this season is a divisional win, but their third-place odds of +500 leave them fairly unlikely to win the NFC East, especially with the Eagles and Cowboys both pushing for the playoffs.
The Commanders have +2000 odds to be the first seed in the NFC, but don’t let that fool you – there are nine teams in the NFC with similar or better odds to do so.
Prop Betting on the 2022 Washington Commanders
The Commanders brought in Carson Wentz to be the quarterback of the team, replacing Taylor Heinicke.
- Carson Wenz 2021 Statistics: 27 TDs, 3563 Pass Yards, 7 INTs
- Passing Touchdowns: 23.5 (Over -115, Under -115)
- Passing Yards: 3550.5 (Over: -110, Under: -120)
- Interceptions: 9.5 (Over: -115, Under: -115)
Wentz had a poor year with the Indianapolis Colts. He avoided making critical mistakes, throwing only seven INTs, but he passed for barely more than 200 yards per game, a number that put him near the bottom of the league.
His odds seem to indicate that another fairly mediocre year is in the offing, although his seven INTs in Indianapolis could be an outlier – he threw 15 INTs in 12 games the year before.
Wentz’s impact will be felt not only in his own super bowl odds, but in those of WR Terry McLaurin, whose production is dependent on good QB play.
- Terry McLaurin 2021 Statistics: 1053 Rec. Yards, 5 TDs, 77 Receptions
- Receiving Yards: 1000.5 (Over -135, Under +105)
- Receiving TDs: 6.5 (Over -115, Under -115)
- Receptions: 75.5 (Over -115, Under -115)
McLaurin is expected to hit more than 1000 yards by the online sportsbooks, and bettors have pushed the shading on this line significantly.
Even in McLaurin’s McLaurin’s rookie year, a season in which he only played 14 games, he put up more than 900 yards, and he’s put those numbers up with all manner of poor QB play.
Even if Wentz is a low-end starter, that’s nothing new for McLaurin, who has produced with Taylor Heinicke, Case Keenum, Dwayne Haskins and Alex Smith, among others.
