SEATTLE - Much hay has been made of the top contenders in each conference, but some of the long-shots deserve love as well, such as the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Jets.
Seattle Seahawks, +20000 To Win NFC
The Seahawks have the longest odds to win the NFC in the entire conference, due primarily to their incredibly tough division, which features three of the top eight teams in the conference by odds – the San Francisco 49ers, the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals.
This puts the Seahawks in an awkward situation, despite the fact that QB Geno Smith is performing admirably, ranking first on Pro Football Focus’ quarterback grades this season.

The Seahawks are currently 2-2 overall, with only one divisional game played. That divisional game, however, was a 7-27 loss to the 49ers.
Seattle is ranked 11th in points per game and 13th in rushing yards per game. However, they have one of the worst defenses in the league, giving up an average of more than 420 yards per game.
This defense might be what holds them back from true contention, no matter how well Geno Smith plays.
After all, defense wins championships.
New York Jets, +15000 To Win AFC
The New York Jets don’t have very compelling numbers, but what they do have is Zach Wilson, who returns to the gridiron on Sunday for only the second time this season.
Wilson missed the first three games of the season due to injury, but with his return, the Jets took down the Pittsburgh Steelers, 20-24.
Wilson was instrumental in that victory, passing for 252 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions.
The Jets could be in a position to surprise with Wilson’s return – the Steelers were certainly surprised.
