- The Buccaneers have the shortest odds to win the NFC South at -105 odds.
- Tampa Bay has a 3-1 record and is in first place of the NFC South after four weeks.
- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not won the NFC South since 2007.
- The New Orleans Saints have +110 odds to win the NFC South.
TAMPA BAY, Fla. – Now that the first quarter of the NFL regular season over, it is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that sit atop the NFC South.
Many sportsbooks had the New Orleans Saints winning the division coming into the season but those odds have shifted and now Tampa Bay is favored to win the division. The Bucs have a two-game lead over both the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers in the NFC South. Led by new signal-caller Tom Brady and an ascending defense Tampa Bay seems poised to make a deep playoff run.
The Bucs latest comeback win against LA Chargers that has put them in the driver's seat of the division and put Brady’s name in the record books yet again.
Brady threw five touchdowns (to five different receivers) in the Bucs game against the LA Chargers and every week the old man seems to be getting more comfortable in head coach Bruce Arians system.

Despite the Buccaneers losing in Week 1 to the New Orleans Saints they’ve now won three straight games including a victory over the division rival Panthers in Week 2.
Current NFC South Standings
- Buccaneers (3-1)
- Saints (2-2)
- Carolina Panthers (2-2)
- Atlanta Falcons (0-3)
The Saints own the tiebreaker over the Buccaneers and the two teams won’t face each other again until Week 9.
Nonetheless, the Saints haven’t looked like themselves as quarterback Drew Brees has struggled pushing the ball up the field. The Saints have faced tougher teams than the Buccaneers have early as the Green Bay Packers remain undefeated and the Las Vegas Raiders posted their first loss of the season this week.
The Saints weren’t blown out in these games but these losses matter especially when looking at the race for the NFC South title.
Odds to Win NFC South
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers -105
- New Orleans Saints +110
- Carolina Panthers +1200
- Atlanta Falcons +2500
The Buccaneers have the shortest odds at -105 to win the NFC South since they have the best record in the division. While much noise has been made about Brady in a Buccaneers uniform it is Tampa Bay’s defense that has been one of the best performing units this season.
They’ve given up the second-fewest rushing yards (64.3) in the NFL through the first four weeks. The Buccaneers defense is legit and as the young secondary becomes more seasoned they’ll be a tough unit to beat come playoff time.
Expect the Buccaneers to continue to hold off the Saints but for those looking to maximize their profits on a Tampa Bay NFC South title should wait for the Buccaneers odds become longer to place a bet.
Since the Saints are still a really good team expect them for some weeks to be favored to win the NFC South. However, the Buccaneers have shown early they’re a team that can prosper with Brady under center.
This will be a tight division race which is also why the Saints +110 odds are well worth the risk but seeing how the Bucs have played since that loss it’s hard to not think they’ll win the NFC South for the first time since 2007.
