DETROIT – Following the conclusion of the 2023 NFL Draft, draft odds for the 2024 NFL Draft are up for who will be the first overall pick and Caleb Williams is far ahead of the rest of the group.
In reality, there is no other option to be taken at number one than Caleb Williams and NFL oddsmakers are well aware of that.
2024 NFL Draft – First Pick Odds
- Caleb Williams -550
- Drake Maye +600
- Marvin Harrison Jr. +2000
- Joe Alt +2500
- Olumuyiwa Fashanu +2500
- Kool-Aid McKinstry +3000
- Michael Hall Jr. +3000
- Dallas Turner +3500
- Jared Verse +3500
- K.J. Jefferson +4000
- Quinn Ewers +4000
- Michael Penix Jr. +5000
Backing Williams’ NFL Draft odds at going number one are that in his first full year starting during his college career, he put the whole country on blast with the third most passing yards (4,537), the most passing touchdowns (42), and the fifth best QBR (87.6). Not to mention, he took home the Heisman trophy with one of the highest point totals (2,031) and percentage of ballots (88.6%).
The stars are also aligning for a repeat season as he is the heavy favorite to win the Heisman Trophy once again with +400 odds while all other favorites have odds of +1000 or more.
Are There Any Other Options?
The next closest option on the odds board is Drake Maye out of North Carolina. He was on fire during his sophomore year with 4,321 yards, 38 TDs, 7 Int’s, and an 82.4 QBR. However, NFL scouts could take into consideration that he struggles in big moments having been blown out in the ACC Championship game in 2022 and suffered a bowl game loss as well which both came against ranked opponents.
If he continues down this path of losing to more competitive teams, his draft stock could plummet leaving Williams as the only true option.
