DALLAS – As the NFL season is just about a month away, the league has been putting together several rules and guidelines that players must follow throughout the season to avoid spreading or contracting the coronavirus.
The rules that are being put in place all revolve around social distancing and also are meant to keep players out of harm's way.
Some of the rules can even result in being fined. Some of the rules are as follows:
- Teams can fine players $50,000 for refusing to submit to coronavirus testing.
- Players are fined $14,650 for not wearing mask, not properly social distancing and not wearing Kinexon device.
- Players must follow rules outside of NFL facilities as well.
- No house gatherings of more than 15 people.
- No attending bars or nightclubs without protective gear and no more than 10 people in attendance.
- No concerts or entertainment events.
With there being strict rules in place, NFL sportsbooks have odds on six different players that could potentially break the rules and get fined.
Starting with the star duo on the Dallas Cowboys, both Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott find themselves on the odds board with the two shortest odds of breaking the rules.
Will Dak Prescott Be Fined During The 2020-21 Season For Breaking The NFL’s New Coronavirus Rules?
- Yes +275
- No -450
Will Ezekiel Elliott Be Fined During The 2020-21 Season For Breaking The NFL’s New Coronavirus Rules?
- Yes +240
- No -380
There is reasoning behind the two Cowboys having some of the shortest odds. The reasoning is that both Prescott and Elliott reportedly hosted a party at Prescott’s house during the self-quarantine period of the pandemic.
As for Prescott, although his odds are somewhat short, it is hard to see him breaking any rules as he is currently searching for a long-term contract from the Cowboys and would not want to jeopardize any chances of doing so.
Elliott on the other hand did already test positive for COVID-19 and could go about the rules one of two ways. Zeke could play it safe and follow the rules so that he does not run the risk of getting it again or he could have the mindset that he has had it already and that he is safe from it and not follow the rules.
If bettors were going to take the chance on any of the two Cowboys, Zeke would be the one to risk it on.
Leading By Example
Both Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes have odds for breaking the rules as well and it is hard to believe that either of them would do such a thing being where they are in their careers.
Will Tom Brady Be Fined During The 2020-21 Season For Breaking The NFL’s New Coronavirus Rules?
- Yes +525
- No -950
Will Patrick Mahomes Be Fined During The 2020-21 Season For Breaking The NFL’s New Coronavirus Rules?
- Yes +275
- No -450
Looking at Tom Brady, image is everything for the greatest quarterback of all time. Being that Brady is always under a microscope, it is hard to see Brady risking having a bad image on him by not following the leagues rules.
That being said, bettors can take the easy way out here and bet that Brady will not be getting fined for breaking the rules.
Patrick Mahomes, on the other hand, is in the same boat as Brady where image means everything, especially after receiving the largest contract in NFL history where he is set to make $503 million over ten years as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mahomes is smart enough to realize that he should not even come close to breaking any rules after this contract as it would completely put a damper on his image.
Bettors can safely bet that neither Brady or Mahomes are going to break any of the rules.
Receivers
Both Odell Beckham Jr. and DeShaun Jackson are looking at longshot odds to break these rules as well. Both of them play significant roles on their teams and would not risk that.
Will DeShaun Jackson Be Fined During The 2020-21 Season For Breaking The NFL’s New Coronavirus Rules?
- Yes +375
- No -650
Will Odell Beckham Jr. Be Fined During The 2020-21 Season For Breaking The NFL’s New Coronavirus Rules?
- Yes +325
- No -550
Looking at D-Jax odds to break the rules, there is no chance that he will re-enter the negative spotlight anymore after having made anti-Semitic remarks on his social media.
Though claiming to have learned from his mistakes, the Philadelphia Eagles wideout would be smart to follow the rules to avoid any more negative backlash. Bettors can take the favorite side here without a doubt.
Odell Beckham Jr. is another player that is hard to believe would break the rules. As hot-headed as he can be, he has made it clear that he thinks the league should not even be playing a season due to the pandemic.
That alone should push bettors to betting that he will not break the rules as he is looking to stay safe.
