- Zach Ertz has been given permission to seek a trade from the Philadelphia Eagles.
- Despite this, Ertz still has +250 odds to stay with the Eagles.
- His most likely destination appears to be the Indianapolis Colts, who have +150 odds to end up with Ertz.
LAS VEGAS - Zach Ertz said an emotional farewell to the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of the 2020 season.
Ertz sat alone on the field following the Eagles’ loss to the Washington Football Team before being joined by Carson Wentz and Jason Kelce, three players who no longer knew where they stood with the franchise.
Wentz, of course, is gone, off to the Indianapolis Colts, while Kelce reached a deal to return to the Eagles for his 11th season with the team.
Ertz, meanwhile, has a doubtful future with the Eagles, who have given him permission to seek a trade, per Ian Rapaport of NFL Network.
The #Eagles have given long-time TE Zach Ertz, one of the faces of their franchise, permission to seek a trade, source said. Several teams have been engaged.

There are a lot of rumors, of course, regarding where Ertz will end up, with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills reportedly showing interest.

I think Buffalo gets it done it's just in the Eagle's court right now https://t.co/eSY8cwyElq

However, the online sportsbooks have a different destination leading the odds boards for where Ertz will end up in 2021.
Where Will Zach Ertz Play For Game 1 Of The 2021 Regular Season?
- Indianapolis Colts +150
- Philadelphia Eagles +250
- Seattle Seahawks +325
- Los Angeles Chargers +325
- Buffalo Bills +550
- Los Angeles Rams +950
The Indianapolis Colts, home of Ertz’s former QB, Carson Wentz, are looking like the favorites to end up with Ertz’s services for the 2021 season.
The Colts outpace not only every other team that he could go to, but also the Eagles themselves.
The Bills took potential themselves out of contention for Ertz when they signed Jacob Hollister, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, to fill their TE needs.
Bills had interest in Ertz, but not at Eagles ridiculous asking price. https://t.co/wEsfsBmvW4

Speaking of the Seahawks, they also went out and signed a TE, in the form of Gerald Everett, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams.
#Seahawks reached agreement on a deal with former #Rams TE Gerald Everett. Former second-round pick set career highs with 41 catches and 417 yards last season.

While neither of these signings necessarily removes the possibility of an Ertz trade to those teams, they do make such a trade less likely.
This leaves the Colts alone as a team that fits three conditions:
- The Colts could use a TE. Jack Doyle is on the roster, but he’s worked well in concert with other TE’s in the past.
- The Colts have the assets to get a trade done, and have dealt with Philadelphia recently in the form of the Wentz trade.
- Reuniting Wentz and Ertz could hold some appeal to the front office, and could help Wentz get acclimated to his new environment.
With all of these factors running in favor of Wentz being joined by Ertz on the Colts, it’s not a surprise to see them at the top of the odds boards.
At the bottom, it’s worth noting, are the Los Angeles Rams, who have been repeatedly going all in on Super Bowl contention, and a trade for Wentz would be in character.
They’re in with a shot, but the online sportsbooks don’t think they’re particularly likely to pull it off.
