2022/23 - NFL Regular Season MVP Odds
- Jalen Hurts -175
- Patrick Mahomes +200
- Joe Burrow +750
Hurts passed Patrick Mahomes as his Eagles dominated the New York Giants, while Mahomes threw three interceptions against the Denver Broncos.
Of note: Hurts has only thrown three interceptions this entire season.
Hurts has already shot up from being a +150 underdog last week to being a -175 favorite.
Mahomes, meanwhile, has fallen from being a +100 favorite last week – and a -150 favorite two weeks ago – to being a +200 underdog.
MVP By The Numbers
Jalen Hurts has passed for 3157 yards with a 68% completion rate. He’s thrown 22 touchdowns with only three interceptions.
He’s also put up 686 yards as a rusher, and ten more touchdowns on the ground.
Hurts’ legs have been responsible for 59 first downs this season, or about four and a half per game.
Hurts has a quarterback rating of 108.4, which leads the league, and his immense efficiency is his main selling point, along with his legs, and his team’s record.
Mahomes, on the other hand, has truly eye-popping numbers. He’s passed for more than 4000 yards, with a 65.8% completion percentage for the Chiefs this season
He has 33 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions. As of right now, he’s averaging 320 passing yards per game, a mark that would be the highest of his career.
ESPN’s QBR stat has Mahomes at the top rather than Hurts – a decent example of how different stat calculations value different things.
At this point, the main advantage Hurts holds is that his Eagles are the best team in the NFL by record, and he’s made so few mistakes.
The betting markets seem to think that these things will help Hurts edge out Mahomes.
Who Will Win MVP? Hurts/Mahomes
