- Jameis Winston is still a free agent quarterback.
- The Miami Dolphins lead the board at signing Winston at +150 odds.
- There are other teams that have short odds to land Winston as well.
MIAMI — With the NFL free agency period in full effect, Jameis Winston is still looking for a new team to take his talents to. Online sportsbooks have released odds on where Jameis Winston will land and the Miami Dolphins are currently leading the odds boards.
There are other teams on the odds board that have a real possibility of signing Winston. The Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, and Los Angeles Chargers currently all have relatively short odds of signing the former Florida State Seminole.
Famous Jameis
Jameis Winston had one of the most eye-opening and confusing seasons in recent years. Last season, he led the league in passing yards throwing for 5,109 yards and touchdowns at 33 which are both career highs. But, he also led the league in interceptions thrown with 30 which is also a career-high.
With his performance last year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to move on from Jameis Winston as their starter. They made it clear to Winston that he would no longer be on the team after signing arguably the greatest quarterback of all time in Tom Brady.
Taking His Talents To South Beach?
Oddsmakers currently have the Miami Dolphins listed as the favorites to sign Jameis Winston at odds of +150. It comes as a bit of a surprise that the Dolphins would be the favorites as they have made it known that they will be trying to bring in a quarterback during the 2020 NFL Draft.
Those plans could fall through, however, if they don’t get the quarterback they wanted. That is where Winston would come in. The Dolphins have nothing to lose after the horrible season they had last year. It would be interesting to see how well Jameis would fit in with the Dolphins though, being that they don’t early have the same talent at the receiving position that the Buccaneers have.
Sports bettors can expect the Dolphins to remain at the top of the odds board for the time being, until they figure out what their plans are for the NFL Draft.
Other Teams In The Hunt
Other than the Miami Dolphins, there are other teams that could potentially move in and sign the former first overall pick. The Washington Redskins are surprisingly one of those teams as they are second on the odds board at +300.
The reason it seems a bit surprising is because they have Dwayne Haskins who is likely to get a chance to start this season, and they just recently traded for Kyle Allen from the Carolina Panthers.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are another surprising team on the board as they have +450 odds of landing Winston. This is surprising as well because they just recently traded away Nick Foles basically giving the starting position to Gardner Minshew.
Unless the Jaguars have other plans regarding their starting position, sports bettors should not expect Winston to make the move across Florida.
Both the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Chargers have +500 odds of signing Jameis Winston. Of these teams mentioned, the Patriots and Chargers seem like the most likely despite not having shorter odds.
Both of them have lost their starting quarterbacks as Philip Rivers signed with the Colts and Tom Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. These two teams could very likely be profitable underdog bets for sports bettors.
