Jets Fire Robert Saleh; Jets Super Bowl Odds Breakdown

  • Coach Robert Saleh was fired as the New York Jets head coach.
  • At best, the New York Jets Super Bowl odds were +1600 this year.
  • The Jets now have +2800 odds to win the Super Bowl.

NEW YORK – After a measly 2-3 start to the season, the New York Jets have fired head coach Robert Saleh. This was Saleh’s fourth season as the Jets head coach and led them to a 20-36 record throughout his career there.

Taking a look at the Super Bowl odds for the Jets over the years, they opened at +15000 odds through Saleh’s first two seasons. After getting Aaron Rodgers in 2023, the Jets opened up the 2023 season at +1800 odds and the 2024 season at +2000 odds. Granted, the 2023 season was a wash after Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in the season opener.

However, in 2024, the Jets Super Bowl odds had high hopes. They opened at +2000, rose up to +1600 after a 2-1 start, and fell back to +2000 after they lost their next two games to fall to 2-3. Now, after the firing, the Jets sit with +2800 odds to win the Super Bowl.

Saleh’s Accomplishments With The Jets

Through the 56 games that Saleh was the coach of the Jets, he never finished above a .500 record. His three full seasons consisted of 4-13 in 2021, and 7-10 in 2022 and 2023. Also in that span, he had the 31st-ranked offense and 7th-ranked defense since 2021.

There was also zero consistency at QB in those four seasons with six different QB1s lining up under center including Zach Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco, Trevor Siemian, Tim Boyle, and Aaron Rodgers.

With the firing, it marks the first time that Jets owner Woody Johnson has fired a coach in the middle of the season. Saleh had one more year remaining on his contract. Now, defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will take over as the interim head coach.
