NEW YORK – HBO’s Hard Knocks is returning and there are odds for which team will be featured on the 2023 version of the series. This season, there are only four teams that qualify to be on the show including the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, and Washington Commanders.
In order for a team to qualify to be on the show, they must’ve missed the playoffs in two consecutive seasons, have a coach that is in his second year with the team, and not have been featured on the show in the last decade.
Team To Appear On 2023 HBO Hard Knocks
- New York Jets -330
- Chicago Bears +475
- New Orleans Saints +500
- Washington Commanders +1100
New York Jets
NFL online sportsbooks are heavily in favor of the Jets being the featured team on the show as they not only meet the criteria but could arguably have the most success of any team in the upcoming season. Other factors that could make for a great series with the Jets include the drama in them trying to acquire Aaron Rodgers and the growth of Robert Saleh and sophomore players such as Garret Wilson, Breece Hall, and Sauce Gardner.
It also helps that New York is one of the biggest markets in terms of TV entertainment.
Chicago Bears
Despite the long odds, the Chicago Bears would also make for an exciting season with the emergence of Justin Fields last season and how their offseason has gone thus far. They also had some pre-draft drama where they ended up trading away the number one pick for a top receiver in DJ Moore and the ninth overall pick from the Carolina Panthers.
The Bears were also one of the busier teams in the offseason spending over $100 million in free agent signings.
The fact that the Bears have never been on the show and are one of the most storied franchises in the league also helps their case.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints odds to be on Hard Knocks should be steered clear of with no real television content surrounding their team.
Sure, they signed Derek Carr and have some nice pieces here and there, but they are just an average team that doesn’t have any momentum toward contending and are closer to a rebuilding team than anything.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders would make for a great series as well even with the longest odds.
Viewers would get an in depth look at Dan Snyder’s selling of the team, and a potential QB competition, along with one of the top defensive lines in the NFL that includes Chase Young, Daron Payne, Montez Sweat, and Jonathan Allen.
