DALLAS - The Dak Prescott and Dallas Cowboys contract negotiations have been everything but simple. Both parties have struggled to come to a consensus on how much the 26-year-old QB should be getting paid this season.

Sportsbooks are hosting betting odds surrounding the contract dispute, with sports bettors also on the fence for Prescott’s contract.

There is also the matter of if Dallas will franchise tag him for the next season, with sports bettors leaning heavily in the direction that it won’t come to those measures.

All About The Money

It is no secret that securing Prescott is a must for the Cowboys possible Super Bowl hopes. The negotiations have gone on for months with neither side seeming like they want to give in.

Dak wants to be the highest-paid player in the league and has refused to budge on the issue. Dallas has continued to lowball their offer despite Dak's wishes. Sports bettors are split on how the final contract will look, with both the over and under for $34.5 million having short odds.

Prescott feels he has earned the big payday, as during his rookie contract he has put up strong numbers as the starting QB. Through his four seasons as the Cowboys starting QB, Dak has thrown for 97 touchdowns to just 36 interceptions and has a 65.8% completion rate.

Prior to things falling apart earlier in the year, the Cowboys seemed confident that they would get the deal done.

“We want to get this done,” said Stephen Jones, Dallas Cowboys VP. “Things are fixing to heat up. We want to put every foot forward and try to grind this out and get a deal done.”

There is also the issue of the franchise tag in place, with Dallas Cowboys bettors wagering that it won’t be a factor by Game 1.

Even with all the drama surrounding the signing, the Cowboys are still confident they will be able to close the deal with Dak before the deadline. Stephen Jones expressed these sentiments on a recent visit to SportsCenter.
