HOUSTON – The Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans are set to square off for Thursday Night Football to open up Week 3 of the season. In this game, the Carolina Panthers odds on the moneyline are overwhelmingly favored being that Houston lost their starting quarterback, Tyrod Taylor, to IR.

With that, easy money can be made betting on the Panthers moneyline but NFL sportsbooks also offer different game and player prop bets as well which could turn a nice profit.

Sam Darnold Player Prop

In his first two games for the Carolina Panthers, Sam Darnold has looked spectacular as he has put up 584 yards and three touchdowns. While this prop might seem like too much for him to handle, he is being set up nicely to make a run for it. Especially being that Houston has let up 300+ yards and three touchdowns already once this season.

The closest Darnold has come so far was in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, where he went for 305 yards and two touchdowns. Houston’s defense has not even looked half as good as the Saints have and Darnold could look to cash these odds easier than some may think.

Brandin Cooks Reception Total

As sad as it may sound, Brandin Cooks is the only reliable receiver that the Houston Texans have on their roster. That being said, five total receptions should not be difficult for him to put up against any defense.

In the first two games of the season, Cooks has totaled 14 receptions with nine in Week 1 and five in Week 2. Even with Davis Mills under center this week for the injured Tyrod Taylor, Cooks should hit the OVER with no trouble as again, he is the best and most consistent option out there.

Carolina Panthers First Half Spread

The first-half line on the Panthers should be slammed immediately. They have been one of the best first-half teams this season as they not only put up over two touchdowns in the first half of their first two games, but they have also kept both opposing teams scoreless in the first half.

Where things turn up for them is in the second quarter as they average just under two touchdowns per second quarter through the first two weeks of games.
