Ridder had a great collegiate career at the University of Cincinnati that led to him getting selected with the 74th pick in the NFL Draft, but Mariota has already been named the starter for Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints.

The Falcon’s preseason win total of 5 wins, with the under favored with -190 odds, indicates that Mariota may start the first few games of the season before eventually relinquishing the job to Ridder.

Betting On The Carolina Panthers Starting Quarterback

The only team with betting odds on their starting quarterback position with their returning starter still on their roster, it seems that the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback spot is Baker Mayfield’s to lose.

The two 2018 NFL Draft top-three selections have been disappointments thus far in their careers, although their statistics make it fairly clear Baker has been the better player and the clear bet to start.

Betting On The Seattle Seahawks Starting Quarterback

After trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, the Seattle Seahawks failed to bring in any true starting caliber quarterbacks to take over the job. Instead, the organization brought in Drew Lock to compete with Geno Smith.

This is likely the best bet of all the underdogs, as this is likely the least settled quarterback job in the NFL. Sports betting on Lock may make more sense than paying for worse odds on Geno Smith.

The Seahawks held a mock game on Saturday that Geno Smith started, but it would appear that Drew Lock had the better game and got nearly the same amount of reps with the starting unit as Smith.

After Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement this past offseason, the Steelers brought in two possible replacements from outside the organization: Mitchell Trubisky and Kenny Pickett.

Outside of the clear indication of the Steeler’s view about incumbent Mason Rudolph and his inability to become a viable starting quarterback, oddsmakers have made this quarterback competition out to be the second closest one, behind only the Seahawks.

Pickett may have been the only first-round quarterback this season, but that status will likely not impact his status within the quarterback room. In fact, he may not even be a guarantee to dress for the Steeler’s first game against the Cincinnati Bengals given his status as QB3 on Pittsburgh’s initial depth chart.
