- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers now are a +300 favorite to win the NFC and go to the Super Bowl.
- The team recently signed Antonio Brown giving Tom Brady a new target as the team gears up for the second half of the season.
- If the Bucs are successful in winning the NFC, they will be the first team to play a Super Bowl at home.
TAMPA BAY, Fla. - After seven weeks of football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have risen to the top of the NFC South with a 5-2 record and have all roads leading to a Super Bowl appearance.
This year’s Buccaneers team with Tom Brady under center has consistently been favored to do well this season but after an impressive Week 7 win at the Las Vegas Raiders, they have jumped to having the shortest odds to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
The most current odds for the 2020 NFC champion has the team with a slight edge over the previously favored Seattle Seahawks.
2020 NFC Champion
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers +300
- Seattle Seahawks +350
- Green Bay Packers +400
- New Orleans Saints +700
The Bucs are favored to make this Super Bowl 55 run and the team has now pushed all their chips on the table by signing WR Antonio Brown to a one year deal.
Brown joins the team as one of the targets for Brady that include Rob Gronkowski, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin.
Evans and Godwin have not been underperforming but they have both suffered injuries and the signing of Brown made sense for the team as they realize the potential for the season.
“I know everybody wants to say Tom Brady lobbied us to get this done,” said Bruce Arians, head coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs. “Tom Brady lobbied me back in, gosh, June, July, August. I said no. It didn’t fit then. Now, we’re in the hunt. I owe it to the rest of my players—if there’s a guy that fits our salary cap cheap, who’s a Pro Bowl-type player, let’s bring him on our squad. Who says he has to start? I mean, we just got another Pro Bowl player to put in if one of those guys go down. AB brings another dynamic to our team that we don’t have. I owe it to the rest of our players to put the best team out there possible.”
The Bucs are confident that despite Brown's previous issues in the league, this signing will only help their chance of the ultimate Super Bowl hopes.
If Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are able to win the NFC this season, the team will become the first team in history to compete in a Super Bowl at their home stadium.
