- Tua Tagovailoa is a -550 favorite to not be the starting quarterback in the first game of the season.
- Reports have said the opposite and are leaning more to the rookie playing week one.
MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins drafted Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and those who know his injury history are interested to know the timeline for his start on the team for the upcoming season.
The former Alabama quarterback has proven himself to be the guy for the job in his college performance but he would be coming off a bad hip injury that ended his college career short.
Will the Miami Dolphins play him early or look to another quarterback to give him time to adjust to this new level of football after the injury?
While only time will tell, oddsmakers have posed the question about the quarterback’s Week 1 status.
Will Tua Tagovailoa Start Game 1 Of The 2020 Regular Season For The Miami Dolphins?
- No -550
- Yes +325
Miami has not found much success in their quarterback room lately and there have even been rumors of possibly trading Josh Rosen after only playing in five games last season.
The only person who would start in the place of the rookie is veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick who finished the 2019 season after the benching of Rosen.
It would be up the doctors to fully clear Tagovailoa and then he would compete for the job and have to beat out Fitzpatrick.
Nobody fully knows the status of the young quarterback health but as the season gets near and practices restart, there should be more insight.
Currently, reports are in favor of fans being able to see Tagovailoa on the field and under the center for the first game.

There has not been word from the Dolphins on if the reports are true.
Based off of quarterback moves that head coach Brian Flores has made in the past and the ability of Tagovailoa, it is not that far of a stretch to believe he will be part of the first-week action.
With this, NFL bettors are given +325 odds to take a chance on that should see heavy movement in the near future.
