Will Dak’s Money Distract Him From Performing Against the Odds?

  • The Dallas Cowboys have the fifth shortest odds at +2000 to win Super Bowl LV.
  • Dak Prescott signed the franchise tag which will guarantee him a 1-year $31.4 million-dollar contract in 2020.
  • The Cowboys and Prescott have until July 15 to agree to terms on a long-term contract.
  • Dak Prescott has the third shortest odds of winning the NFL MVP award at +1200.

DALLASThe Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have taken the next step in their quest to get the quarterback signed to a long-term deal as he signed the franchise tag on Monday.

Under the franchise, tender Dak Prescott will make $31.4 million dollars this year. This is an important step in the negotiations between the team and Prescott because this gives them until a July 15 deadline to come to terms on an agreement.

By signing the franchise tag Dak puts an end to the notion that he will holdout to start the season which must be comforting for new Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.

Either way, Prescott is on his way to becoming one of the highest-paid players in the NFL. However, will all the contract talk affect Prescott’s play on the field?

Prescott is coming off a 2019 season where he set career highs in passing yards (4,902), passing yard per attempt (8.2), and passing touchdowns (30).

Although the Cowboys finished the 2019 season with an 8-8 record Prescott has proven that he’s of a long-term deal with the team and the front office has made it no secret they want Dak in Dallas for the foreseeable future.

Sportsbooks seem to think the money won’t affect the way Prescott plays and replacing Jason Garrett with Mike McCarthy should elevate the team and Dak’s play even more.

With a plethora of offensive weapons surrounding Prescott, he should be able to build off the momentum of last season.

Dak comes into the upcoming season with the third shortest odds to win the NFL’s MVP award at +1200. Those odds are worth the dice roll especially if the Cowboys can get out to a hot start under their new head coach.

Odds to Win NFL MVP

  • Patrick Mahomes +400
  • Lamar Jackson +800
  • Dak Prescott +1200
  • Kyler Murray +1200

The Dallas Cowboys on paper look like a team that will be contending for Super Bowl 55 but to even make it there it’ll take another spectacular season from Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys currently have +2000 odds to win Super Bowl LV which are good odds to place a bet on for those who believe Prescott will elevate his play this year.

The Cowboys as an entire team should be better now with McCarthy on the sidelines. With a weak NFC East division expect the Cowboys to be in the running for a playoff spot even if Prescott struggles early under the new coach.

Odds To Win Super Bowl 55

  • Baltimore Ravens +650
  • Kansas City Chiefs +750
  • New Orleans Saints +1200
  • San Francisco 49ers +1200
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers +1200
  • Dallas Cowboys +2000

The Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott will eventually agree to terms on a long term deal this summer and it’ll make Dak among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

The new money shouldn’t keep Dak from performing as he has his whole career and the supporting cast around him has never been better.

The fifth-year quarterback is poised for a big year financially and on the field but to justify his heavy price tag he’ll have to bring some hardware home for Cowboys fans who have been yearning for another Super Bowl title.
